On 26 – 30 October 2009 the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA), ESA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) jointly organised a training course in Radar Remote Sensing, held in the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest. The objectives of the course were to provide training in radar remote sensing theory and applications to young scientists and university students from PECS countries (Romania, Hungary, Poland) who wished to expand and improve their knowledge and skills in radar remote sensing research.

The course included the following main components:

  • Theoretical fundamentals of radar remote sensing and introduction to SAR applications
  • Practical sessions using SAR data with focus on TerraSAR-X imagery for applications in water / oil detection and mapping

Introductory Presentations
