EarthCODE objectives

EarthCODE is an ambitious project aimed at implementing the vision of ESA EO Open Science by enabling adoption of FAIR and Open practices in ESA Earth Science activities.

Its capabilities for researchers include:

  • Allowing discovery of research data (data + code + documentation)
  • Giving access to powerful cloud computing resources (from ESA’s Network of Resources)
  • Developing scientific workflows
  • Storing research data persistently on the ESA cloud
  • Publishing FAIR research data (with DOI)
  • Disseminating through dashboards, advanced visualisations and storytelling
  • Interacting and collaborating with research data owners.

EarthCODE implementation

EarthCODE is being developed incrementally, with subcontractors/suppliers being selected via annual procurements. The first procurement has recently been launched with deadline 28 June 2024.
