Currently valued at €300bn, the global space economy could grow to as much as €1trn by 2040.
The exponential growth of the commercial dimension touches all space sectors, with a strong push on the EO commercial market. While still largely relying on government funding and investments, commercialisation is progressing rapidly.
New companies with high levels of private capital, the use of new technologies and business philosophy, and the convergence with the IT sector form the basis of what is called New Space.
Throughout the Living Planet Symposium, a number of sessions, agoras and networking activities will address commercialisation in the European space sector and the revolutionary changes in the space sector itself, the New Space.
A plenary session New Space & Commercialisation in EO will take place on Thursday 26th, 9:00-10:30 CEST. Anyone can follow the livestreaming on ESA WebTV.
The panel will focus on the entrepreneurial journey of leading actors in the New Space ecosystem, the challenges and the lesson learned as well as the present and future role of ESA in the scaling up of the business.
Introduced by Simonetta Cheli, Director of European Space Agency – ESA Earth Observation Programmes and Head of ESRIN, and moderated by Donatella Ponziani, PhD, EMBA, Head of ESA Commercialisation Gateway, the panel will feature representatives from the start-up and new space world:
Jean-Emmanuel Roty, Payload Systems Engineer at Aerospacelab
Dr. Lina Hollender, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at ConstellR
Christian Lelong, Director for Natural Resources at Kayrros
Roberto Fabrizi, Sales and Business Development Director at SATLANTIS
