A set of Earth science developments aim to better integrate EO-derived information within priority Earth science research programmes in the Atlantic region.
These will address the entire range of Earth system processes, including regional climate processes, characterisation of regional sources, sinks and exchange processes for the main biogeochemical cycles, regional tectonic and solid Earth processes and coupling between different geophysical processes and phenomena.
ESA will address these science priorities under the Atlantic+ project.
In particular, the 4DAtlantic ITT focuses on three separate Themes or science cases:
- Theme 1: Eastern Boundary Upwelling System (EBUS);
- Theme 2: Ocean HeatContent (OHC);
- Theme 3: Atmospheric dust deposition and ocean biochemistry (Dust).
