SUP FCP – MULTISENSOR WATER DISCHARGES

Planetek Italia (IT)

Summary

Identification – which includes both detection and characterisation – of liquid discharges from land is a relevant topic both for coastal and fresh waters areas. Such events can pose a relevant treat to the different kinds of ecosystem that can be found in such areas, as well as have a negative impact to their sustainable exploitation and protection within the Blue Economy.  The objective of the Multisensor Water Discharges project is to simulate CHIME and LSTM representative data for detecting water discharges in:

  1. Inland fresh waters (application 1)
  2. Sea coastal waters (application 2)

CHIME hyperspectral data will be simulated from PRISMA/EnMAP.

LSTM thermal data will be simulated from Landsat/ASTER thermal data using Artificial Intelligence. The technical approach is based on direct and indirect measurements of water quality parameters. The reference dataset for these missions will be delivered through a combination of airborne and spaceborne datasets which make use of existing and novel acquisitions over the test sites.
