The Urban Development, Liveability and Adaptation R&D activity comprises three projects to develop,, together with key end-users, Earth Observation-integrated solutions addressing key urban challenges:
- World Informal Settlements will develop regional to global EO-based methodology to identify, characterise and monitor evolution of informal settlements, providing consistent and scalable statistics and socio-economic indicators;
- Urban Liveability and Adaptation will develop EO-based indicators to assess urban liveability by integrating data on land use, built-up density, urban form, and key climatic, environmental and social-economic factors, to inform and support urban planning and adaptation strategies;
- EO for Sustainable Mobility will develop EO-based methodology to perform mobility patterns analysis in relation to urban structure and population distribution, in support of urban sustainable mobility planning.
