The 2nd European Workshop on Artificial Nighttime Light Remote Sensing workshop will bring together scientists, engineers and stakeholders to explore the use of optical remote sensing to observe artificial nighttime lighting (NTL) and its impacts on the environment, ecosystems and biodiversity, human health, economic activity, security and resilience.
The workshop will review the state of the art in nighttime optical observations from satellites, the ISS, aircraft and drones, identify gaps in the current global observing system, and discuss scientific and technological requirements for future missions. Its outcomes will support ESA guidance on future research and technology developments, including a potential roadmap for future satellite missions with nighttime optical observation capabilities.
