The research community are actively investigating a wide range of advanced methods and processing methods for both existing and emerging satellite EO data sets. These can support a significant expansion of the EO applications and downstream services portfolio of the European EO service industry. Examples include super-resolution enhancement of optical and IR datasets, optimized methods for extracting structures and targets from lower performance datasets and developing methods to extract information from EO datasets that have not been routinely exploited until now.
This tender will strengthen the operational capabilities of a priority selection of advanced processing methods and verify their performance and utility within dedicated operational use cases. The priority areas addressed under this tender are:
- Topic 1: Super-resolution enhancement of Hyper-Spectral data with real world training data
- Topic 2: Enhanced spatial and spectral signature fusion from Hyper-Spectral data
- Topic 3: Super-resolution enhancement of Mid/Thermal Infrared data
- Topic 4: Low contrast feature detection and characterization in Thermal Infrared data
- Topic 5: Low light level feature detection and characterization in multi-spectral data
- Topic 6: Automatic Feature/Target characterization from optical/Infrared video data
- Topic 7: Foliage Penetration with Long Wavelength SAR.
The work includes the optimization of the processing methodology, the development of a pre-operational prototype processing chain and the verification of the prototype industrial offering within representative use cases to assess the benefits resulting from these new analysis capabilities.
