INDUSTRIALIZATION OF AI METHODS FOR DECISION INTELLIGENCE IN CLIMATE AND SECURITY APPLICATIONS (Fire-Aid)

OroraTech GmbH (DE)

Summary

The project is part of the programme element concerning the industrialization of AI Methods for Decision Intelligence in Climate and Security Applications, the project has the aim to develop capabilities to enhance fire incident response and evaluation with applications concerning decision making of industrial and public operators. It is based on Artificial Intelligence using multi-modal datasets including the EO mission data operated by Ororatech. The aim is to inform predictive analytics and contingency planning in the eye of the disaster. Prototype implementation is planned for three specific use cases: simulating wildfire spread, automated fire break suggestions, and triage decisions between multiple fires under constrained firefighting resources. The project will use AI to support wildfire risk management through ML-based Fire Spread simulations, automated fire break suggestions and triage support. This aims to improve the monitoring of wildfires with actionable information and evidence-based decision support to firefighting teams. The overall service is based a variety of different EO based products (land cover, soil moisture, elevation, previously burned area) and non-EO data (e.g. weather). The implementation and demonstration is user-centric and the company Arauco, a large forestry company and partner, is engaged as lead user. Additionally, the organisation has access to a large user base of existing customers who use a fire spread solution already.
