Summary
The EDUKEO project, proposed by Lobelia Earth in collaboration with Planetary Visions, aims to create an innovative digital educational platform designed to bring complex Earth Observation (EO) science closer to the general public. Leveraging a modern “scrollytelling” approach, EDUKEO will present scientific stories through immersive, web-based narratives combining animations, interactive graphics, maps, and multimedia content. The platform will be structured as a series of interconnected chapters, each telling a unique story drawn from ESA’s Science for Society programme. These stories will be developed in close collaboration with scientists to ensure both accuracy and accessibility.
Technologically, EDUKEO is powered by Lobelia’s Globe Story Engine and TeroMaps framework, ensuring high performance and rich interactivity even on mobile devices. Each story is designed to stimulate cognitive and emotional engagement through intuitive navigation, impactful visuals, and clear messaging. The platform will highlight the societal relevance of EO data in understanding climate change, ecosystems, and natural phenomena. A strong emphasis is placed on co-creation, iterative feedback, and audience inclusivity, targeting youth, students, educators, and policymakers.
