SUMMARY:2nd European Workshop on Artificial Nighttime Light Remote Sensing
DESCRIPTION:The 2nd European Workshop on Artificial Nighttime Light Remote Sensing workshop will bring together scientists\, engineers and stakeholders to explore the use of optical remote sensing to observe artificial nighttime lighting (NTL) and its impacts on the environment\, ecosystems and biodiversity\, human health\, economic activity\, security and resilience. \nThe workshop will review the state of the art in nighttime optical observations from satellites\, the ISS\, aircraft and drones\, identify gaps in the current global observing system\, and discuss scientific and technological requirements for future missions. Its outcomes will support ESA guidance on future research and technology developments\, including a potential roadmap for future satellite missions with nighttime optical observation capabilities. \n  \nKey dates \n10 September 2026 – Abstract submission deadline\, 12:00 CEST\n17 September 2026 – Notification of acceptance\n24 September 2026 – Draft programme published\n1 October 2026 – Registration closes and final programme published \n  \n
