ESA’s Big Data Foundations for Earth Observation 2025 course will take place in Riga from 22-26 September 2025, offering participants foundational knowledge and practical skills in Earth Observation (EO) data and applications, big data processing, business insights, and future computing technologies. Designed as a precursor to the Big Data from Space 2025 (BiDS’25) conference, this complimentary course will equip attendees with the skills needed to engage with the latest developments in space and big data technologies.
Focusing on a “Teach the Teachers” approach, the course targets educators, government representatives, and industry professionals from the Baltic region, empowering them to share knowledge within their communities.
To tailor the course content to the needs of potential participants, ESA invites you to complete a short survey to help identify key educational requirements. The survey will remain open until 15 April 2025, and your feedback will directly contribute to refining both theoretical and practical sessions to align with skill levels, professional needs, and expectations.
Following the course, participants will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge at the Big Data from Space 2025 (BiDS’25) conference, taking place from 29 September – 3 October 2025. The event will bring together key players from industry, academia, EU entities, and government to explore user needs, exchange ideas, and showcase the latest technical innovations in space and big data. The conference will feature Satellite Events such as workshops, hackathons, and challenges, followed by three days of Plenary presentations, Lightning Talks, Poster Sessions, Exhibitions, and Demo Areas.
Note: The survey is not an application form for the course. Applications will open in the coming months.
