A special collection of papers examining the physical, biogeochemical and ecosystem changes related to permafrost thaw and the associated impacts has been recently featured on the Nature Reviews Earth & Environment journal.
One of the papers in the collection, describing how scientists from Europe and the US are working together to better track permafrost carbon dynamics, is based on research conducted through the ESA–NASA Arctic Methane and Permafrost Challenge.
