Coastal Blue Carbon: User Consultation Meeting
April 8 - April 10
ESA-ESRIN

The European Space Agency (ESA) and the Coastal Blue Carbon project consortium are organising a three-day User Consultation Meeting on coastal blue carbon monitoring from 8–10 April 2026 at ESA ESRIN in Frascati, Italy.
This event brings together practitioners from public institutions, research organisations, NGOs, and international initiatives to share results from the project in terms of Earth-Observation-based new products and tools, engage in hands-on demonstrations, and co-design future priorities for operational blue carbon monitoring.
After an opening and introductory session on the first day (8 April, afternoon only), during which ESA, high-level organizations, and leading blue-carbon experts will set the scene, the second day (9 April) will be dedicated to technical and interactive sessions focusing on coastal habitats and carbon-stock products. Participants will explore technical sessions, compare methodologies across pilot sites, and contribute to shaping a roadmap for improved monitoring of seagrass, salt marsh, and mangrove carbon stocks. On the final day (10 April, morning only), participants will consolidate outcomes and co-design a shared roadmap for the blue-carbon community.
A preliminary agenda is available here.
