An atlas to raise people’s awareness of the importance of water and its management
Following on from the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002, the “World of Water” atlas aims at raising people’s awareness of the importance of water and its management.
Using up-to-date satellite data, the atlas highlights a number of the most crucial aspects of the resource, whether exemplifying global dimensions or revealing regional or local effects.
The atlas does not attempt to be a scientific publication but strives to appeal to everyone and deliver background knowledge. It implies that sustainability is better attained by us joining forces with the environment rather than by us fighting against it.
