A software for EO educational use


Bilko was first developed for UNESCO in 1987 to provide free image processing capability for education use. The software has since been updated regularly, to keep pace with developments in remote sensing technology.

It now supports data from Envisat AATSR, ASAR, MERIS, RA-2 as well as ERS, SMOS, CryoSat and Jason-2.

Functionalities include:

  • Interactive and batch mode processing of up to 4096 images
  • Supervised and unsupervised classification
  • Principal Component Analysis
  • Handling of 3D and multiband data for up to 512 bands/images
  • etc.
