SUMMARY:The Antarctica InSync Science Planning Workshop |ESA ESRIN 03-06 November 2025
DESCRIPTION:Background\nThe Antarctica InSync Science Planning Workshop will be hosted by ESA at ESRIN\, Frascati (Italy)\, from 3rd to 6th November 2025. \nAntarctica InSync is a globally coordinated scientific initiative established to address the pan-Antarctic scale of environmental change currently unfolding across the Antarctic continent and the Southern Ocean. The initiative is grounded in an integrated\, system-level research framework that facilitates synchronised\, multi-platform observations across atmospheric\, oceanic\, cryospheric\, and biological domains. \nObjectives\nThe primary goal of the workshop is to bring together invited experts representing the Antarctica InSync National Committees to discuss science priorities\, align methodologies and timelines\, coordinate data collection and finalise the Scientific Plan for Antarctica InSync. \nThe output will be a series of white papers for each of Antarctica InSync science themes: \n1) Southern Ocean and Antarctic heat\, freshwater\, carbon and other elements cycles and their response to climate change.\n2) Rapid sea-ice decline and its causes and consequences.\n3) Melting ice sheets and ice shelves\, and coastal impacts.\n4) Improving knowledge and protection of the unique Antarctic life: from land to ocean and into the deep sea.\n5) Anthropogenic signatures in Antarctica: the race against pollution and other pressures.\n6) Aerosol-cloud interactions and radiative feedbacks.\n7) Climate variability: from extremes\, to weather\, long-term variability\, and global teleconnections. \n \n  \nAbout the project\nMore information about Antarctica InSync can be found here:👉 https://www.antarctica-insync.org/\n \nLogistic&Useful contacts\nFor more information about the event\, please contact the Antarctica InSync Steering Committee: info@antarctica-insync.org \nFor information about the event logistics and participation\, please contact info@antarctica-insync.org \n  \n
