SUMMARY:ESA Training on EO for Forestry
DESCRIPTION:This in-person training\, organised in the frame of the ISPRS-SELPER 2024 symposium\, will take place just before the event at the same location. \nThe main purpose is to present and to teach how to handle various tools to process Earth Observation (EO) data relevant for forestry applications. The course will combine theoretical lectures and practical tutorials. The course does not require participants to have prior extensive background knowledge in EO\, though some familiarity with forest monitoring concepts would be an asset. \nThe course will take place over three days\, from 1st to 3rd November 2024\, in the Federal University of Pará (Belém\, Brazil) and will cover various topics including forest mapping\, deforestation monitoring\, and biomass estimation using EO technologies such as Optical or SAR remote sensing. \nThe course is limited to a maximum of 30 participants. Preference will be given to early-career professionals\, master and PhD students\, and individuals working in the field of forestry with an interest in using EO data. Special consideration will be given to applicants with a focus on tropical forest monitoring and management. \nFor this course\, no participation fee is foreseen. Participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses (financial support is not available). The official language of the training course is English. \nApplications can be submitted HERE\, and the application deadline is 4th October 2024.
