SUMMARY:ESA's 7th Advanced Training Course on Radar Polarimetry
DESCRIPTION:The European Space Agency (ESA) organised the 7th ESA Advanced Course on Radar Polarimetry for training the next generation of Earth Observation (EO) scientists in dual and fully polarimetric data for science and applications development. \nObjectives: \nThe main objectives of the course were to: \n\nTrain the next generation of European and Canadian Principal Investigators (PIs);\nExplain theoretical principles\, processing algorithms\, data products and their use in various applications;\nIntroduce available tools and methods for the exploitation of dual-pol and full-pol data;\nProvide first-hand and up-to-date information on state-of-the-art methods and applications in Radar Polarimetry\, Polarimetric SAR Interferometry and SAR Tomography;\nProvide an introduction to the BIOMASS mission\, data and applications.\n\nContent: \nThe course provided a substantial and balanced introduction to the basics and advanced concepts of: \n\n\n\n\n\nSAR data\,\nradar interferometry (InSAR)\,\nradar polarimetry (POLSAR)\,\nInSAR polarimetry (POLinSAR)\,\nand SAR Tomography (TomoSAR) theory and applications.\n\nFor anyone interested; if you wish to use SAOCOM full-pol or L-band radar data for a research or EO-based applications project\, please refer to the announcement of opportunity page. \n\n\n\n\nParticipants: \nPost graduate\, PhD students\, post-doctoral research scientists and users from ESA member states and associated countries interested in Radar Polarimetry\, BIOMASS and their applications were invited to apply. \nResearch scientists and students from all other countries were also welcome to apply and participate in the course\, subject to availability. \nThe official language of the training course was English\, and the course was free to attend. \nParticipation was limited and subject to a selection process\, with participants with familiarity in SAR and Python in preference. \nFemale applicants were encouraged to apply. \n \nFor more information\, see the official course website. \n
